  • Why Tour Yellowstone During Winter?

Winter is a wonderful time of year to visit the World's first national park. As snow falls and winter temperatures set in, animals gather in the lower elevation areas of the park. This means chances of seeing animals interact with each other is at a peak. Let me show you all the best areas in the wintery northern range of Yellowstone! Enjoying the winter landscape, spotting an abundance of animals and soaking in a hot springs is the preferred way to experience Yellowstone in the winter!

Your day will start by heading straight to the Lamar Valley in the morning to view wildlife - make sure you bring a camera! We will drive through the Lamar Valley and stop along the road where the animals are most active. There is a good chance to see bison grazing, wolves playing and maybe even wolves hunting!

We will head further into the mountains past Lamar Valley to view the stunning Barronette Peak.  At Barronette Peak, you can view dozens of majestic icefalls as they cling to the rocky peak above.

Next we will make our way back to Mammoth Hot Springs. Your guide will teach you about Yellowstone's hydrothermal history and take you through the historic village and maze of boardwalks as hot spring steam billows through the cold air. The travertine terraces will leave you wondering how such intricate rock formations are created!

End your winter trip to Yellowstone with a relaxing soak at the beautiful Yellowstone Hot Springs. Enjoy a long soak in this historic flow-through springs before we return you to your lodging.
